How to Write a Resume
Most people are aware of what a resume is. Even so, the majority of
people seem to not be aware of the real purpose of a resume. The purpose
of a resume is mainly to help the potential employee secure an
interview. It is important to know this when writing your resume. When
you keep this objective in mind, it will help you craft an effective
resume that will get the attention of potential employers and help you
get an interview.
Potential employees should keep in mind that hiring agents or hiring
managers usually only have a small amount of time to read each
individual resume that comes into the company. Because of that fact, you
want your resume to be short, concise and to the point. Also, don't make
your resume so boring by including every single detail about every
single job you have ever had. If that much detail is needed or required,
you can disclose all of that detail in a job application. Again,
remember the goal of your resume is to help you get an interview. So
create an enticing resume that will catch the attention of the hiring
manager.
It is recommended that you skip the objective that you commonly see at
the beginning of many resumes. This is really a part of the common
resume that has no meaning and accomplished little. It is not necessary
to make a statement that you are looking for a challenging position at a
company you can grow with. Instead, give a short sentence that gives the
hiring manager real information they can use. For example, a short
statement that lists your qualifications.
You should also remember that a hiring manager is interested ion what
you can bring to the company that you will benefit the company. So
highlight this in your resume. Highlight your accomplishments and what
you can do to help the company if they hire you. Also, don't put so much
emphasis on the responsibilities you had at your previous jobs. Again,
highlight your job skills that are specific to the job you are applying
for. And remember, if you have changed jobs often, you may want to use a
functional resume. This will help take the focus off of the fact that
you have changed jobs frequently.
